Chapter Zero · Submission

Submit Your Film.

A four-chapter submission for independent filmmakers — written like an editorial, read like a contract, completed in roughly eighteen minutes.

A preface, before you begin

We don't run a submission funnel. We edit a chapter list.

Every film that arrives at I AM EIGA is read by a human programmer — a former Sundance, TIFF, or Cannes curator on our team of nine — and considered for the platform's curated premiere calendar, the Eiga Score audience rating, and the integrated pitch rooms where member filmmakers have raised more than $41M in production funding since launch.

What we ask of you is straightforward: a project synopsis, a screener, an honest declaration of rights, and the tier at which you'd like to enter — free Member Filmmaker, or paid Studio. What we return is harder to summarise — an audience of 1.2 million registered cinephiles across 142 countries, a verified Eiga Score now used as an early signal by 47 festivals including Raindance and Tallinn Black Nights, and a fast-track relationship with MUBI, Tribeca Channel, and six international sales agents who watch the platform weekly.

We will not guarantee distribution. We will not promise awards. We will read what you send, programme what deserves to be seen, and put your work in front of the people who can move it forward.

Notes from the editorial desk

Questions filmmakers ask before they upload.

Does it cost anything to submit?
No. Submission is free for every filmmaker. We do not charge reading fees, hosting fees, or acceptance fees. The only paid tier is Studio ($29/month or $290/year), which adds festival-submission credits, distribution fast-tracking, and audience analytics — and even that is optional after you submit.
Will I have to give up my rights or exclusivity?
No. We ask only for the non-exclusive rights necessary to stream your film on the platform. Your festival life, your sales agent relationships, and your future distribution deals remain entirely yours. We do not request worldwide rights and we do not require an exclusivity window.
How long until I hear back, and what will I hear?
Programmers respond within fourteen business days. Every filmmaker receives either an invitation to a curated premiere slot with a programming note, a holding response with feedback, or a polite decline. We do not disappear into inboxes — if you submit, we answer.
What does "Member Filmmaker" actually give me?
A verified profile on the platform, screener hosting, an Eiga Score once your film screens, access to the integrated pitch rooms where member filmmakers have raised more than $41M since launch, and inclusion in the weekly programming digest sent to acquisition executives at MUBI, Tribeca Channel, and six international sales agents. It is the working tier for most of our 14,800+ filmmakers.
